Todos los años el 10 de diciembre celebramos el Día de los Derechos Humanos. A pesar de todas las luchas por mejorar la situación de los derechos humanos, cada año que pasa podemos ver que hay mas violaciones a los derechos humanos en naciones ‘democraticas’ y ‘no democraticas’.

missiles fall
fast and precise
relentless

two children run under the fire

the two children disappear
suddenly
in an alphabet of sparks
on the cobbles of the street

With pain in my heart I remember the children assassinated in another humanitarian war.

The nine children of Hutala

Sixth of December two thousand and three
ten thirty in the morning
blue sky and bright sun.

Children play with marbles
children run after the ball.
Girls collect water from the stream
adults observe from the shade of a tree.

Two A-10 Thunderbolt planes
shoot their missiles
and 30-mm Gatling guns.

Two girls and seven boys die.

They burn the tree of the shade
and destroy the children’s games.

Of the children
only stains of dried blood remain.
In the cemetery the caps and shoes
and the nine children killed in Hutala.

The US military regrets
the loss of innocent life.

niños corren detrás de la pelota.
Niñas colectan agua del arroyo
adultos observan a la sombra de un árbol.

Dos aviones A-10 Thurnderbolt
disparan sus misiles
y las 30-mm Gatling ametralladoras.

Mueren dos niñas y siete niños.

Queman el árbol de la sombra
y destruyen los juegos infantiles.

De los niños
sólo quedan manchas de sangre seca.
En el cementerio las gorras y zapatos
y los nueve niños asesinados en Hutala.
